About

Saniya Walawalkar is currently teaching 3rd and 4th grade math in Chicago Public Schools. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BFA in Design, a BA in Art History, and a minor in Italian in May of 2018. She is fluent in Hindi, Marathi, English, and is conversational in Italian.
Saniya's work takes inspiration from her Indian and Hindu heritage and her identity as an immigrant in America. She is passionate about design for political change, literacy, and true, unencumbered accessibility for all. She also loves reading fantasy and hopes to design the cover for a bestselling Young Adult novel.
Her work has been published in Vagabond City online journal and the UT blog, A Matter of Opinion.
